I had intended that to be part of my Lenten clean up but just didn\u2019t get around to it. Now I finally had some open time so I tackled it.<\/p>\n<p>I found:<br \/>\n*cell phones &amp; equipment (batteries, instructions, cords for old\u00a0phones)<br \/>\n*old but usable greeting cards<br \/>\n*miscellaneous files (including background on a homeless couple who stayed with us 6 years ago)<br \/>\n<div id=\"attachment_4545\" style=\"width: 160px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanvogt.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Days-365123-Lent-lingers-top-of-file-cabinet-after.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4545\" src=\"http:\/\/www.susanvogt.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Days-365123-Lent-lingers-top-of-file-cabinet-after-150x150.gif\" alt=\"After\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-4545\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-4545\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">After<\/p><\/div>*a lot of dust<\/p>\n<p>It took me about 3 hours to sort through the papers but I think the research I did about what to do with unused cell phones will be more useful to you.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4 Things To Do With Old Cell Phones:<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>1. Re-purpose it.<br \/>\n<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ting.com\/blog\/five-things-to-do-with-you-old-cell-phone\/\">Ting<\/a> \u00a0offers some creative uses.<br \/>\n<strong>2. Give it to Charity.<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.treehugger.com\/gadgets\/6-ways-do-good-your-old-cell-phone.html\">Treehugger<\/a> \u00a0lists a number of charities that can use cell phones.<br \/>\n<strong>3. Recycle it.<\/strong><br \/>\nBest Buy was the easiest place for me. (They also take old plastic cards like credit cards.) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/10-places-to-recycle-your-cell-phone\/\">Click here<\/a> \u00a0for other possibilities.<br \/>\n<strong>4. Sell it.<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.susanvogt.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Days-365123-Lent-lingers-cell-phones.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.susanvogt.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Days-365123-Lent-lingers-cell-phones-150x150.gif\" alt=\"Days 365+123 Lent lingers cell phones\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-4569\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nUnfortunately, with the rapid enhancements in cell phones, my older phones weren\u2019t good enough for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gazelle.com\/sell\/cell-phone\">Gazelle<\/a> . <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/how-to\/how-to-sell-or-recycle-your-phone-for-cash\/\">CNET<\/a> \u00a0gives additional ideas for getting cash for your phone. BUT,\u00a0don\u2019t be too quick to sell. Read <a href=\"http:\/\/money.usnews.com\/money\/personal-finance\/articles\/2015\/08\/18\/selling-your-old-cellphone-read-this-first\">these cautions<\/a> about giving away important private info to buyers<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Thing NOT To Do With Old Cell Phones<br \/>\n<\/strong>Throw them in the garbage.
